About Hispanic Unity

All of us have dreams.

Hispanic Unity of Florida (HUF) was founded with this Vision: Everyone is empowered to live their American dream.

And, HUF was created more than 30 years ago (1982) by community leaders to ease the acculturation transition for newcomers from other nations and to empower them to become successful.

Today we provide 12 programs and 30+ services, in four-five languages, to South Florida’s diverse and multicultural community, serving individuals from 25 different countries. Hispanic Unity remains the county’s largest agency dedicated to the immigrant population, providing them with the tools they need to build a new life. Our agency serves 17,000-20,000 clients annually.

HUF’s programs help clients of all ages – preschoolers, youth and adults – in critically important areas. Through the Center for Working Families we provide: employment skills/ placement, career coaching, public benefits and health access, nutrition program and financial education and coaching. Other programs include: English classes, free tax preparation, a licensed (nationally accredited) preschool center, youth after school and summer programs, small business workshops for new entrepreneurs, immigration and legal referrals and clinics, naturalization assistance and Citizenship classes and more.

HUF also links clients to a vast continuum of ancillary services through collaborative partnerships with agencies providing specialized services including: transportation, primary medical care, mental health counseling, housing and substance abuse treatment and other human services throughout Broward County.

The agency offers assistance in eight Broward County sites. For more information, please visit the Hispanic Unity website.

Our Mission: Empowering immigrants and others to become self-sufficient, productive and civically engaged.
